This young lady came into the care of Our Time To Shine in October 2020. She suffered from a rare heart episode. When we began work with her, we were of the understanding she was palliative. Her family were planning on taking her on what they thought would be her last camping trip. We’re unsure what happened but Jay came home with a lot of fight and strength in her. Our team helped guide and assist Jays and her family through her rehabilitation.
Jay was expected to be tube fed for the rest of her life. With the persistence of Jays Aunt and the care companions at Our Time To Shine, Jay learnt how to swallow again. Jay now eats modified meals and no longer requires the tube. Her laughter is contagious, and her personality is shining through. In just over 6 months, Jay is now no longer classed as palliative and on the long road of recovery and rehabilitation.
It has been a pleasure to be part of Jay’s journey and to watch this young woman now flourish and regain some of her life back.
